You can't beat getting photo prints in the post. The excitement of seeing your photographs for the first time.
I thought I would try a online lab I haven't tried before - The Film Processors. I sent the film in the post with a order form and the next day I was emailed a paypal invoice. It was £3 to send in the post but free signed delivery with the goods. I did the full whammy; processing, prints and medium res scanning.
The scans on CD were better than previous online sites I have used. It seems they use a good scanner, clean negs and pay attention to the files. However there were a few problems. Firstly, there are a few spots of bright sunshine that have been bleached out resulting from the colour settings being clipped in to much. Secondly, if I went there again I would ask to take off sharpening, it's too much. The colour balance is ok, a little too much green in the shadows but easily changed in Photoshopped. If I were to print these, or use them professionally I would have to scan them myself on a Hasselblad X5 scanner down at the Printspace. They are acceptable for use on the blog and website. Below is an example of a scan unedited by me.
A nice little surprise was half a roll was of Tokyo. The lost photographs of Japan! That was a nice little treat. I will go through these and I might add some to my new website
